The Institute of Clinical Sciences, Department of Surgery at the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow in cancer research, with placement in the Sahlgrenska Translational Melanoma Group (www.satmeg.se) at the Sahlgrenska Cancer Center. The research group has a strong desire to translate basic research findings into new and innovative clinical trials.

Cancer immunotherapy

Subject area description
Immunotherapy is a treatment that works in some patients with cancer. However, all patients do not respond to this treatment so more research is needed to develop new therapies. The research group works with a novel way to attack a certain cancer form called melanoma.

Job assignments
The position will be tied to a project that focuses on developing and evaluating CAR-T therapy against melanoma. The postdoctoral fellow performs his/her own work in the GMP laboratory and maintain a close contact with clinicians.

Eligibility
To qualify as a postdoctoral researcher the applicant should hold a PhD in a relevant subject, such as immunology or molecular biology. Since postdoctoral constitutes a qualifying appointment for junior researchers, we aim to target those who have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years from the application deadline.

Assessment
The applicant should have knowledge in the field of cancer research, practical laboratory experience within immunology and/or cancer research. Other important qualities include extensive experience in flow cytometry and work with laboratory animals, training in GCP, GLP or GMP, as well as a strong self-motivation, good interpersonal skills, and fluency in writing and speaking English.

Employment
The employment is limited (temporary) for 24 months, 100 % of full-time and is placed at Department of Surgery at Institute of Clinical Sciences. Starting date; As soon as possible
