Would you like to combine the freedom and passion of driving your own research vision with the resources available in an industry setting?

Then join AstraZeneca Cell Therapy in our mission to develop new treatment ideas! Together we will improve the therapy standard in areas of high unmet medical need.

About the Opportunity:

This is an opportunity to join the newly established Cell Therapy department and work at the cutting edge of next generation medicine research.

The Cell Therapy department is a group of passionate researchers, dedicated to innovation and the advancement of science. We focus on pre-clinical research with the goal of bringing novel treatments across multiple disease areas, spanning from cardiovascular malignancies, through metabolic disorders to inflammation.

We will support you in developing a new, proof-of-concept modality for rare Inborn Error of Metabolism (IEM) diseases, such as Phenylketonuria (PKU). The project aim is to replenish the missing enzyme, for example Phenylalanine-4-hydroxylase (PAH), using a suitable cell type for delivery.

As a Postdoctoral Fellow you'll work with peers and professionals from diverse backgrounds, who will foster your scientific freedom. You will own the project, independently design the experiments and drive the execution of your vision. You will be supported by three internal scientific mentors, as well as a world-class external academic mentor, aligned to your project.

We will provide you with the resources required to optimally finalize your work, including proprietary techniques, modern equipment, reagents and in vivo work facilities. You will assess and present data to support project progression, sharing your findings at research conferences and in publications. Through this you will establish valuable networks which will support your research and future career development.
