In addition to education at the Bachelor's and Master's levels, there are doctoral education programmes in Textiles and Fashion. Research in design in the field of textiles and fashion means artistic design research with a strong focus on, both theoretically and practically, deepening understanding of the interplay between analysis and synthesis in the design process as a basis for developing design methodology, techniques, and programmes. The research approach is mainly experimental and focused on design in which the development of methodology, programs, and techniques relies on critical experimental artistic work.
This Postdoctoral Appointment deals with design research within the research project Beyond e-textiles: Nordic network on smart light-conversion textiles beyond electric circuits from the Nordic Programme for Interdisciplinary Research - NordForsk and has a focus on smart materials in textile design through experimental development of design methodology based on textile materials and processes. Job description
You will work with research in design within the research programmes Beyond e-textiles, Smart Textiles and ArcIntex with a focus on smart textiles in textile design through the development of materials, design methodology, design variables, and textile prototypes. Your duties include conducting research in collaboration with international researchers in accordance with the Beyond e-textiles research programmes. Your practical work tasks include the experimental development of materials, design methodology, and design variables with consequences for smart textile materials and products, development, as well as publication and communication of artistic results in relevant channels. The work tasks also include some teaching, as well as supervision of students at the Master's level corresponding to a maximum of 20% of full-time. The position is with the Department of Design with Head of Department Clemens Thornquist as immediate manager. The Beyond e-textiles project is led by Delia Dumitrescu at the University of Borås, whom you will work closely with and who will be your artistic and scientific leader for the research conducted in the project.
