Duties
The project for which we are now looking for new staff concerns fundamental research within material physics, primarily theory and modelling of metal borides.

The post doc will perform theoretical calculations and simulations of 3D materials by DFT (using mainly VASP and QE) and DFT+U. The materials in focus are known and unknown (hypothetical) phases, including multinary alloys in the form of solid solutions and chemically ordered structures.

The materials will be evaluated by thermodynamic and mechanical stability, including phase structure, decomposition and phase diagrams. Also elastic properties and electronic structure will be evaluated.

The post doc will be part of an international team (> 20 people) with related activities on metal borides including (in selection) materials synthesis and characterization, plasma process development, and high resolution microscopy and synchrotron analysis.

A Postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.
