Postdoctor in Structural Biology/ Protein Science
formally based at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology, IFM
Duties
A postdoc position is available in the research group of Protein Science. The project aims to employ an integrated structural biology approach, combining biochemical, biophysical and structural biology methods, to explore the evolutionary relationships and structural and functional repurposing of human proteins acquired by picornaviruses.
A Postdoctor will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.
Qualifications
The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a foreign university, within molecular biology, biochemistry, structural biology or a related field. The doctorate shall have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application.
We seek highly motivated individuals with practical experience and expertise of cloning and protein production (expression, purification, characterization), structural biology (experience in at least one technique is required) and an interest in learning new methods and skills.
The ideal candidate will have A Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry, or a related area. Ability to independently perform experiments, analyze and interpret results. Documented ability to write scientific manuscripts (one or more first author papers from Ph.D. and postdoctoral studies will be highly valued). Excellent English interpersonal, communication and writing skills. Ability to operate as a team player in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Two years.
