The human body constitutes to 90% of bacterial cells. The majority of these cells are found in the gut where they affect host metabolism and physiology. Our group is interested in how the normal gut microbiota affects host physiology by combining clinical oriented and animal research.

Specific subject description
Investigate how the gut microbiota modulates gene expression and function in enteroendocrine cells. To this end we have developed germ-free mice with fluorescent enteroendocrine cells.
Job assignments
By cell sorting isolate L-cells from the guts of germ-free and conventionally raised mice to determine how the gut microbiota modulates gene expression in L-cells. Also determine the of bile acid receptors in this process.
Eligibility
An achieved doctoral degree is compulsory for a position as postdoctor at Göteborg University. Since a position as postdoctor aims to give new holders of the doctorate the opportunity mainly to strengthen and develop their scholarly proficiency, we aim for those who have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years counting from last date of application.
Assessment
The successful candidate is expected to be at ease collaborating with other scientists within a larger team. Documented experience of cell sorting and gnotobiotic mouse models is advantageous.
