Postdoctor in evolutionary biology
formally based at IFM, Biology
Duties
For this position we are looking for a candidate with a strong background in quantitative genetics and bioinformatics. The project will involve a large amount of Whole Genome Sequencing data (including RNAseq and Methseq data). The project will require selective sweep mapping, population genomics analysis of admixture as well as GWAS analysis (expression-based and standard phenotyping). The project itself has recently been funded by an ERC consolidator grant and is aiming to use a series of different populations of feralised chickens (domestic birds that have escaped and are now living wild throughout the Hawaiian Island chain) to map the genes and polymorphisms underlying their rapid responses to newly imposed selective forces. Multiple tools will be used, both based on field collections and a laboratory population of hybrid wild x domestic chickens that are maintained in Linköping.
A Postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.
Qualifications
The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a foreign university. The doctorate shall have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application.
Appointment time
Two years.
Starting date
May 2018 or by agreement.
