The Faculty of Medicine is a part of Lund University, and is responsible for education and research within medicine and healthcare. Our academic programmes are closely linked with the healthcare system and are firmly anchored in the faculty's strong research tradition. Our research spans a broad field within experimental basic research, healthcare and near-patient research. The Faculty of Medicine, with its 1,800 employees and 2,700 students in Lund and Malmö, is a knowledge-intensive meeting place for students, teachers and researchers from all over the world.
Job assignments: The aim of the studies is to investigate how non-coding small RNAs contribute to neurodegeneration with a focus on Parkinson's disease and Huntingtons's disease.
The project includes work on in vitro and in vivo models of these disorders as well as work on patient material.
Qualifications: The applicant must have a PhD in biomedicine, medical sciences, biotechnology or molecular biology. The applicant must have a broad repertoire of technical skills including cell culture, viral vector design, western-blot analysis, immunocyto- and histochemistry, confocal microscopy as well as in vivo animal surgery. Administrative duties are part of the position. Prior experience in work relating to non-coding RNAs and neurodegeneration is preferred. A high degree of motivation and scientific creativity and independence is required.
This is a qualifying position focused on research, with intention to be an initial career step.
Type of employment: The employment is temporary for 2 years, full time, according to regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance, Lund University Teacher Appointment Regulations,(
