We are seeking a POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW at the Gothenberg/Sweden site to work in the novel and exciting field of precise genome editing (PGE). The successful applicants will be embedded in the Discovery Sciences Department and will join a vibrant community of PostDoctoral Fellows that is already established here at Gothenberg/Sweden site and at the Cambridge/UK site in our PGE teams.
Our aim is to develop new tools for the identification and validation of novel drug targets and to contribute to the development of novel therapeutic strategies. The successful candidate will join our PGE global teams and have the opportunity to work and interact with our global AZ PGE community and a significant number of high profile external collaborators (Sanger Institute, Harvard, MIT, UC Berkeley, UCSF, University of Munich, others). This three year position will provide opportunities for publication, patent applications and conference presentations. We are looking for applicants with enthusiasm, a passion for science, good attention to detail and a desire to create new medicines for patients.
Education:
• PhD degree, preferably in molecular biology, genomics or/and mammalian genetics.
Required:
• Scientific excellence as shown by previous work, publication list and references from scientific mentors.
• Very good understanding of human genetics/genomics and tools used to identify disease-associated genetic variation.
• Extensive hands-on experience with functional genomic tools, preferably including CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, using in-vitro model systems.
• Extensive hands-on in the generation of mouse models) particularly using viral or non-viral delivery systems for in-vivo applications of precise genome editing.
• Experience in cell-based assays using a variety of technologies for measuring disease-relevant phenotypes.
• Molecular cloning and gene expression analysis in human cellular systems
• Strong communication and collaborative skills, especially the ability to communicate essential details of experimental design and data to others in a clear and concise manner.
• Ability to be highly collaborative and work as part of both a large multidisciplinary team. The ability to work with both internal and with external partners in both academia and industry.
Preferred:
• Experience with high-throughput methods for functional genomics such as parallel reporter assays, saturation mutagenesis, complementation assays, and pooled/arrayed CRISPR/Cas9 screening
• Experience with transgenic mouse models of human disease, especially in the cardiovascular and metabolic areas, cancer or autoimmune diseases
• Experience with genetic manipulation and cell-based assays using primary and human iPSC-derived cell types
• Experience with NGS transcriptome and genome analysis
