The metabolomics facility at Umeå Plant Science Center (UPSC) has a long experience in metabolomics analysis of both plant, animal and human samples. Our expertise is in developing and optimizing metabolomics methods using statistical experimental design in order to achieve robust results. The lab is equipped with state of the art mass spectrometry equipment, such as a Q-Tof instrument, a triple quadrupole and an Orbitrap instrument as well as other GC-MS and LC-MS systems.
We are now looking for a postdoc to join our efforts in further development of these platforms on the above mentioned instruments. The candidate will be working both on developing new methods for metabolic profiling and testing these in our ongoing projects
1. In plant biology, to understand wood properties and the developmental stages of wild type and mutant Poplar trees
2. In medicine, for diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and novel therapy of autoimmune diseases.
The applicant will work in close connection with three centers, FuncFiber (
http://www.funcfiber.se) , Berzelii Center for Forest Biotechnology and Computational Life Science Cluster (CLiC) in an environment consisting of biologists, analytical chemists and experts in multivariate statistics.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or relevant discipline, and strong background in mass spectrometry. The degree should preferably not be more than three years old. Experience in metabolomics analysis, statistical experimental design as well as multivariate statistical methods for data processing and modeling are meriting. The position is full-time and will be granted for a period of 1+1 year, starting as soon as possible. The salary will be based on your individual qualifications.
Application
The application should contain a CV, including transcripts of academic grades, a copy of selected publications, two personal references along with a personal letter of one A4 sheet describing yourself and why you apply for this position.
