Southern Swedish Forest Research Centre

We closely collaborate with multiple stakeholders and conduct applied research in silviculture, forest ecology, pathology, policy and planning. Duties:
We are seeking a highly motivated person to conduct research on predictions of the hydraulic and thermal risk of Swedish forests. In this research, the the physiological drivers of heat and drought tolerance, particularly regarding inter- and intraspecific variation and temporal acclimation, will be central. This is important in relation to ecosystem vulnerability to climate change, and will serve climate-smart forestry and agriculture.

Qualifications:
We are seeking for a highly motivated person with a PhD degree in biology, ecology, forest science or equivalent, with a focus on understanding mechanisms of drought induced decline of trees and forests. Applicants should also have:

• Excellent verbal and written English
• Excellent knowledge in data analysis and modelling using R, or similar programs
• Experience in writing and publishing of peer-reviewed articles
• Experience with work in controlled climate chambers
• Experience with eco-physiological measurement techniques
• Ability to contribute to a positive working environment
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Pride in original and high-quality work
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Have a strategic and creative mindset
• Driver's license and willingness to perform fieldwork
• Willingness to participate in teaching

As postdoctoral appointments are career-developing positions for junior researchers, we are primarily looking for candidates with a doctoral degree that is five years old at most.

Temporary employment 24 months, with the possibility of extension.
