Do you want to do your post doc in a stimulating research environment, accelerate the transformation towards a more resource efficient and sustainable industry, and become a part of the global research community? We will now extending our research team with one post doc in the area of simulation and geometry assurance. The successful candidate should be willing to participate in the courses given by the department in the mechanical engineering program. We search for independent and creative persons capable of planning and carrying out own research.

Project description
The Geometry Assurance & Robust Design Group, at the department of Industrial and Materials Sciences (IMS) and Wingquist Laboratory, conducts research on assembly modelling and analysis, robust design, variation simulation, tolerance optimization, heat transfer and use of inspection data for product and process control. The group consists of five senior researchers and 10-15 post docs and PhD students. The research group has over the last decade produced a number of scientific results that have been transferred into commercial software products, today used in daily operation by a large number of engineers at several international companies. The research group has a large industrial network.

Major responsibilities
This post doc position focuses mainly on geometry assurance for Megacasting. You will be working in a research project together with industrial partners. The focus of this project is to identify sources of variation, develop methods for simulation of geometrical deviation, and propose a geometry assurance process for megacasted products. The method will be implemented in an existing simulation platform, developed by the research group and partly in use by industrial partners.

Your major responsibility as postdoc is to perform your own research in a research group. The position may also include teaching on undergraduate and master's levels as well as supervising master's and/or PhD students to a certain extent. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.

Qualifications
Required qualifications:
• Have a PhD degree related to tolerancing or casting simulation (or similar).
• Fluent written and verbal skills in English and be able to produce high-quality written documents.

Meritorious qualifications:
• Knowledge in FEM, thermomechnical modeling, casting simulation, and multi-physics simulation.

To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must hold a doctoral degree awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline (according to the current agreement with the Swedish Agency for Government Employers).
Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.

Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension.
