About the position
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to contribute to ongoing work in multi-modal radio localization, sensing, and the integration of sensing and communication technologies (ISAC). This is a growing research area with many open challenges and opportunities.

As a postdoc, you will engage in applied research, including in collaboration with leading industry partners. You will gain hands-on experience with real-world localization and sensing systems, and participate in the management and coordination of ambitious research projects. The position provides access to a broad international network and the possibility to make a strong impact through your research.

Project and role description
The research focuses on combining information from different modalities (e.g., radio, radar, and other sensors) to enable accurate localization and sensing. The project includes both theoretical work and applied studies in close collaboration with industrial partners.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting and leading research activities and scientific publications
• Interacting with industry (presenting results, contributing to reports and deliverables)
• Coordinating specific tasks within ongoing research projects
• Supporting the supervision of PhD students and postdocs
• Contributing to project management and proposal writing

Research environment
You will be part of the Communication Systems (CS) group at the division of Communications, Antennas, and Optical Networks (CAOS), Department of Electrical Engineering. The group consists of nine professors and a large number of PhD students and postdocs. Research areas include wireless communication, optical communication, coding theory, information theory, and machine learning.

We value diversity and believe that a mix of backgrounds and experiences contributes to a creative and productive environment. The department has about 200 employees from more than 20 countries, and we maintain close collaborations with academic, industrial, and medical partners in Sweden and internationally. Our aim is to contribute to a sustainable and inclusive society through our research and education.

Qualifications
To be eligible for the position, you should:

• Hold a PhD in electrical engineering (or related field), with specialization in radio localization, radar, sensing, signal processing, or machine learning
• Have completed your PhD no more than three years before the application deadline*
• Demonstrate strong mathematical skills, particularly in optimization and algorithm development
• Have a publication record in peer-reviewed journals (e.g., IEEE Transactions)
• Show excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
• Be fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Have an interest in interdisciplinary and industry-connected research

Experience with international research collaboration, innovation, and research utilization is considered an advantage.

• The date shown in your doctoral degree certificate is the date we use, as this is the date you have met all requirements for the doctoral degree. Exceptions from the 3-year limit can be made for longer periods resulting from parental leave, sick leave or military service.

Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
