MAX IV is a national large-scale research laboratory providing scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world with instruments for research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually. 200 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory.



Your role

• You will participate in the design, implementation and commissioning of the new Fresnel Zone Plate (FZP) based experimental station at NanoMAX for X-ray fluorescence and scattering imaging in 2D and 3D.

• You will use and further develop tools for the analysis of X-ray fluorescence spectra

• You will participate in commissioning activities of the beamline optics, the coherent diffraction experimental station and the future FZP experimental station.

• You will participate in the operation of the beamline by providing user support and/or getting involved in collaborations with users.

Your qualifications

The successful candidate has the following qualifications:

• PhD in natural sciences in subjects of relevance for NanoMAX.
• Demonstrated knowledge of x-ray techniques of relevance for NanoMAX and experience with the use of scanning imaging approaches using nanobeams.

• Experience in instrumentation development, particularly including nano-positioning and scanning.
• Good command of English, good communication and team working skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.

The following qualifications are considered an asset:

• Experience in X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy including analysis and applications.

• Experience in low-level programming control electronics for the instrumentation hardware.

• Experience in programming in Python.

A person who holds a doctorate and who has completed the degree within three years prior to the last date of application shall be qualified as a postdoctoral fellow. Candidates who have completed their degree earlier than this can be considered if there are valid reasons.

This is a 2 year temporary employment.
