This position is a great opportunity for a recent PhD, aspiring to engage in state-of-the-art research towards creating the next generation of industrial sustainability tools, where servitization is at the core. You will join a diverse, professional, and friendly team of excellent researchers working in national and international research projects together with industry.

Information about the division and the department
Chalmers is a leading university in industrial digitalization for sustainable and competitive manufacturing. The Division of Production Systems deals with challenges of sustainability and human-centred digitalization in industry. We work on design, operation, and maintenance of future industrial manufacturing systems. Our research target areas include sustainable and circular production, servitization of manufacturing capabilities, digital platforms, manufacturing's use of VR/AR and AI, human-automation collaboration, and upskilling the workforce.

We are a growing team of 30 cross-disciplinary researchers, teachers, PhD candidates, and support staff. The Division has a good gender balance and high diversity. We have extensive international collaboration and use our Stena Industry Innovation Lab for experiments.

Production Systems is one of six divisions within the Department of Industrial and Materials Science (IMS). The other divisions are: Design & Human Factors; Product Development; Material & Computational Mechanics; Engineering Materials; Materials and Manufacture.



Major responsibilities
As a Postdoc with us, you will focus on sustainable manufacturing, in close collaboration with companies across multiple industrial sectors. Your starting point is to study servitization and future business models for sustainability and circularity in manufacturing industry.

As Postdoc you are expected to continuously expand your field of expertise. This will be in close collaboration with the three research groups within the division. Our experienced research leaders and mentors will train you for a future research leadership position in academia or industry, in Sweden or internationally.

Qualifications

Mandatory:
To qualify for the postdoc position you should hold a recent doctoral degree related to advanced, industrial sustainability development and assessment methods, preferably involving manufacturing industries. Your degree should have been awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline, in line with current agreements with the Swedish Agency for Government Employers.

You should be able to fluently speak and write English. Swedish proficiency is meritorious but if you do not yet have it you should be willing to learn Swedish, to facilitate teaching and research collaboration. Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

Meritorious:
Training and experience with digitalisation of business models and servitization is relevant. Applicants with a background and research experience within industrial, mechanical, energy or similar engineering are prioritized.

Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
