Do you want to work on large cattle datasets, development of international genetic evaluations for new traits, and the future of international genomic breeding value estimation?

About the position
We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher in quantitative genetics and international genetic and genomic evaluation. You will research and develop international genetic breeding value estimation of cattle, including developing international evaluation of new trait groups and evaluating new methods for international genomic evaluation. The research will be performed at the Interbull Centre at the Department of Animal Biosciences, in close collaboration with the international genetic evaluation service, the Interbull Technical Committee, and its international network of experts.

Your profile
You have a PhD in animal science, animal breeding and genetics, or a related subject. The degree needs to be obtained latest by the time of the decision of employment, and no more than three years before the last application date. English language skills is a requirement, both in speaking and writing.

Preferred skills include experiences with statistical analysis of large datasets, data management in a Linux environment, programming skills (primarily in Python and Fortran, while C++ and similar are beneficial), quantitative genetic modelling and breeding value estimation including multi-trait models, development of genetic evaluation, and experience with genomic prediction and genomic data.

Emphasis is placed on personal characteristics such as interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, curiosity, accuracy, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and as a team player.
