Information about the Electronics Materials and Systems Laboratory
In the Electronics Materials and Systems Laboratory we conduct research based on micro- and nanostructured materials and advanced semiconductor processes in order to realize various applications. We pursue biology-relevant physics-theory modelling and fundamental and applied materials physics. The materials research includes developing a parameter-free and computationally efficient theoretical characterization of sparse-matter challenges like, e.g., the carbon-based systems, and experiment-theory collaborations to study functional organics. The Labratory has about 14 staff members (faculty, permanent research staff, postdoctoral researchers and PhD students).
The Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience (MC2) focuses on research, innovation and education within the fields of future electronics, photonics, bio- and nanosystems. A close collaboration with Swedish and international partners within academy, industry and society enables scientific excellence and creates an innovative environment. In addition to the 200 researchers and PhD students, MC2 houses a cleanroom for micro- and nanofabrication with state-of-the-art equipment. Chalmers University of Technology is located in Gothenburg on the scenic west coast of Sweden. It is among the top research schools in Europe. The research environment is international and English is the working language.
Major responsibilities
Your major responsibilities are to develop viable solutions for integrated energy harvesters and electrochemical capacitors in collaborative EU projects, carry out characterization for devices for applications within IoT and to constructively contribute also to other projects undertaken in EMSL. You are expected to develop your own scientific concepts and communicate the results of your research verbally and in writing. Included in your work is also co-supervision of PhD and master students.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must hold a doctoral degree awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline (according to the current agreement with the Swedish Agency for Government Employers) related to 2D materials, electronics packaging and energy storage, Materials Sciences and Engineering, Physics Engineering, Thermal Management, Micro and Nanodevice Fabrication or equivalent. You also need demonstrated experience in conducting research on fabrication and characterization of electrochemical capacitors, in particular with regards to the integration of microsystems.
We value a collaborative attitude and an interest in working both in teams and independently. Self-motivation and a desire to solve complex probems are important personal qualities for this position.
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for up to three years.
