RISE Energy Technology Center AB (RISE ETC) is a subsidiary of the national RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, which conducts research and offers services to industry, academia and society. The RISE ETC research is mainly related to thermochemical transformation processes covering the core areas of combustion, gasification, pyrolysis, and upgrading. Within our business there are currently around 25 employees, mainly in the form of researchers, engineers and technical staff, but with a need for further recruitment in 2019. Our well-equipped and adapted premises in Piteå, Sweden, consist of generous spaces for lab and test activities, apart from our warm and welcoming office areas. Our aim is to work in an open and creative work environment that promotes cooperation and team spirit.RISE ETC now seeksPostdoc for R&D work around gasification with focus on process control and optimisationAbout the positionDependent on the merits, experiences and interests of the applicants, the position can be focused on (i) process control and optimisation of gasifier or (ii) detail understand of soot (or other types of nanoparticles) formation during gasification. With help of advanced sensors based on in-situ diagnostics (laser- or camera based), active control systems for gasification processes will be developed. Machine learning can also be adopted and applied in this task to facilitate the active control process. Applicants can look through some relevant papers from our group for inspiration [1-6].Soot and other type of nanocarbon particles will be produced and characterised with advanced electron microscopy. The task will be focused on how different metals affect the nanostructure of the soot particles and how that also affect the oxidation rate of the particles. Applicants can look through some relevant papers from our group for inspiration [7-10].About youYou are an experienced, communicative and cooperative person who individually can perform experimental work and document scientific results. Furthermore, you have the following qualifications:- PhD within the area of thermochemical conversion of solid fuels- High level in English writing.- For task (i), experience with laser-based diagnostic, machine vision and machine learning- For task (ii), characterisation of nanoparticles with transmission electron microscopy, in-situ transmission electron microscopy and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS)- Experience in pilot scale experiments are meritorious.TermsProject employment full time (24 months) with employment terms as agreed. We wish you to start work as soon as possible.ContactCEO Magnus Marklund, tel. + 46 10-516 6185.ApplicationFinal application date is April 29.
