Position description
The purpose of the position is to give the employee an early opportunity to develop his or her independence as a researcher and to create the conditions for further acquisitions of qualifications after completing the doctoral degree.The position is part of efforts to underpin the future supply of skills. The position is a temporary employment of 2 years.

The candidate will be expected to work on the collaborative project Unity4Water. This project aims to create efficient methods to convert wastewater streams into a resource for food production. There are several clusters in the project each focusing on a different topic, examples include nutrient and resource recovery, data mining and digitalisation, and techno-economic feasibility, LCA, commercialisation. It is desirable that the candidate contribute to the relevant clusters. The focus of the candidate is expected to be the recovery of energy from both wastewater and the vertical farm.

Qualifications requirements
The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering or in similarly relevant subjects.

The applicant must have completed the degree no more than three years before the end of the application period. You have not previously held a position as a postdoctoral researcher in the same or related subject area at MDU that exceeds one year.

The position requires good communication skills in English, both oral and written.

Assesment criteria
The following qualifications and experiences are considered meritorious and will be evaluated in the selection process:

• Expertise in wastewater treatment process modeling, particularly with the benchmark simulation models.
• Thermal modeling experience, including energy balances and/or pinch analysis.
• Proficiency in coding and simulation environments, especially in Python, Matlab/Simulink, and OpenModelica.
• Experience collaborating on projects with external partners as well as working independently.
• Effective communication of research results to diverse audiences.
• University-level teaching experience, with additional merit for teaching in digital environments.

Additionally, knowledge of or an interest in learning the Swedish language will be viewed favorably.
