The Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Environmental Studies, SLU, Umeå, is looking for a postdoc in the area of ecological modelling of boreal ecosystems using eDNA time series. The goal is to understand both drivers behind historic changes in ecosystem organization and diversity, as well as make forecasts on based on projected climate and land-use changes.
Duties:
The postdoc will 1) characterize the diversity and abundance of organisms using state-of-the art statistical models, 2) develop methods to analyze eDNA, traditional inventory data, climate models, and remote sensing data in a common framework, and 3) address fundamental questions regarding the roles of stochasticity, demography, and external forcing in shaping organismal abundance and diversity.
Qualifications:
A PhD in ecology as well as experience in time series analysis, statistical modelling and population dynamics. As postdoctoral appointments are career-developing positions for junior researchers, we are primarily looking for candidates obtained a doctoral degree within the last three years.Experience in the analysis of genetic diversity from large-scale sequencing data using R and/or Python is also required. The successful applicant should have good skills in written and spoken English and be able to work both independently and as part of a larger team.
