hela Sverige The Department of Soil and Environment is looking for a postdoc. The department conducts research, environmental analysis and education in soil science and sustainable land use. The majority of the department's activities and employees are located in the Soil-Water-Environment building on the SLU Ultuna campus in Uppsala, and there is a research group with a field research station situated in Skara.
Duties:
The group Biogeochemistry of Forest Soils is looking for a postdoc to explore the C:N:P:S stoichiometry of organic matter in soils of the Swedish Forest Soil Inventory and several forest long-term field experiments. For this purpose, s/he will (i) quantify the organic matter C:N:P:S ratio in soils, and (ii) will use fractionation techniques to investigate specifically the C:N:P:S ratio of the mineral-associated soil organic matter fractions. Organic matter of selected samples can be further analyzed using NMR. The results of the soil chemical analyses will be statistically analyzed together with additional data on climate, soil chemical properties and vegetation that are already available. The results of this work will be important for a better understanding of soil organic matter stabilization and storage in soils.
Qualifications:
• PhD in Soil Science or similar (ideally received within the last three years).
• Experience in soil chemical analyses
• High proficiency in statistical analyses
• Ability to conduct soil chemical and statistical analyses independently
• Very good writing skills
• Capability to cooperate and work in a team
• High level of enthusiasm about soil research
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Driver license B is desirable
