Linnaeus University is a modern, international university with Småland as its base and the world as its stage. We combine curiosity, creativity and utility with an entrepreneurial thinking in education and research. Seeing possibilities and believing in the future is part of what we do every day.

We now strengthen our prominent research by recruiting 21 postdoctoral fellows.

Linnaeus University Centre: Concurrences in Colonial and Postcolonial Studies was established in 2012 as a leading research environment at Linnaeus University in Växjö/Kalmar, Sweden.

The research center seeks to expand the understanding of conflicting and simultaneous claims regarding culture and history. Influenced by the postcolonial concern with recovering the voice and agency of the subaltern, the principal purpose is to investigate various cultural archives - formal and informal, traditional and digital, fiction and documentary text - in order to map multiple and concurrent claims of reality, experience and meaning in time and place. The center's broad geographical spread and Nordic perspectives offer a substantial intervention into an international debate that has primarily built on British and American research and examples. The scholarship supported by the center aims for a deeper understanding of how voices and narratives become structured culturally, politically, and mentally in the meeting between scholars and their sources, in the formation of colonial archives, and in cultural encounters.
