Linnaeus University is a modern, international university with Småland as its base and the world as its stage. We combine curiosity, creativity and utility with an entrepreneurial thinking in education and research. Seeing possibilities and believing in the future is part of what we do every day.

We now strengthen our prominent research by recruiting 21 postdoctoral fellows.

Department of Building technology work together with neighbouring institutions, Forest and wood technology, Built environment and energy technologies and Mechanical engineering, to create a research environment that includes "wood, wood technology, wood construction and sustainable built environment". Home of the environment is the Faculty of technology. The environment includes a total of around 60 employees including 12 professors and it is expanding considerably.

The University is planning to develop and offer a new MSc education in Building Technology. This means that research in this entire field should be extended and that new research based courses will be developed within subjects such as mechanics, material science, advanced structural design (wood, concrete and steel), structural dynamics, building physics, energy technology, building acoustics, finite element modelling and 3D visualization. This challenge requires that new personnel are recruited. The current employment is part of this plan.

Ongoing research at the Department of Building Technology concern wood and timber properties, methods for machine strength grading, development and assessment of engineered wood products, including timber glass composites, modelling of different kinds of connections, analysis of load bearing systems subjected to varying moisture climates and mechanical loading, solutions for vibration and acoustic issues as well as building information models. In addition, a new Professor in Building Physics with specialism in heat and moisture transport in porous material has recently been recruited. Research at the department often relies on laboratory experiments, for which advanced equipment is available, in combination with calculations and finite element modelling. It aims at products, methods and solutions that can be used by producers and practicing engineers in industry.

Linnaeus University is searching for applicants for a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in building technology. Candidates able to carry out research and publish high-quality papers within one of the research areas mentioned above, or within an area that would mean an extension in relation to the present, are encouraged to apply.
