hela Sverige Welcome to Linnaeus University! A place for knowledge, ideas and development. For growth potential and a belief in the future. In Småland and in the world.
Department of Building technology works together with neighboring institutions, Forest and wood technology, Built environment and energy technologies and Mechanical engineering, to create a research environment that includes "wood, wood technology, wood construction and sustainable built environment". Home of the environment is the Faculty of technology. The environment includes a total of around 60 employees including 12 professors and it is expanding considerably.
Ongoing research at the Department of Building Technology concern wood and timber properties, methods for machine strength grading, development and assessment of engineered wood products, including timber glass composites, modelling of different kinds of connections, analysis of load bearing systems subjected to varying moisture climates and mechanical loading, solutions for vibration and acoustic issues as well as building information models. In addition, a Professor in Building Physics with specialism in heat and moisture transport in porous material has recently been recruited. Research at the department often relies on laboratory experiments, for which advanced equipment is available, in combination with calculations and finite element modelling. It aims at products, methods and solutions that can be used by producers and practicing engineers in industry.
Linnaeus University is searching for applicants for a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in building technology. Candidates able to carry out high-quality research and publish high-quality papers within the area of timber engineering and wood mechanics are encouraged to apply.
