Then this PostDoc position at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg might be the one for you!

We are looking for a talented and motivated Cell biologist to join our Mechanistic Biology and Profiling Team within the Discovery Sciences department at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, Sweden as a PostDoc. In a collaborative environment, you will get the opportunity to apply your expertise in cell biology and imaging to contribute and play a meaningful role in advancing the oligonucleotide therapeutic field. This is a temporary position of 2 years, with possibility of extending 1 year.

Our Mechanistic Biology and Profiling Team focuses on improving the mechanistic understanding and efficacy of our oligonucleotide therapeutics. The team operates in a cross disciplinary environment in close collaboration with expert scientists across AstraZeneca R&D units and external collaborators and offers a highly rewarding scientific environment along with an inclusive, dynamic and team focused atmosphere.

What you will do:
You will drive research with the focus on increasing the mechanistic understanding of intracellular oligo:protein interactions to improve the uptake and trafficking of oligonucleotides with the aim to create better oligonucleotide therapeutics. Your main research project will focus on developing and using different techniques to characterize oligo:protein interactions in cells, and correlate results with oligo sequence motifs and chemistries, target modulation efficacy and subcellular localization.

As an expert in cell biology and imaging, you will apply your expertise in proposing experimental strategies, implementing them and troubleshooting challenges to succeed in your role. You will work in close collaboration with a cross-functional team to study the impact of oligo:protein interactions. The strong network of professionals within the AZ oligo community will help to ensure a high impact publication track record. Therefore, the position offers the ability to maintain a competitive research output.

Essential in the role:

* PhD in Cellular or Molecular biology or similar.
* Significant experience working with cells and establishing cell based imaging assays, e.g. immunofluorescence, NanoBret.
* Proven record of applying fluorescence microscopy and image analysis.

Desirable in the role:

* Experience in the area of oligonucleotide therapeutics including studying oligo uptake and intracellular trafficking.
* Experience in studying oligo:protein or protein:protein interactions in cells.
* Scientific excellence as shown by previous work, publication list or references from scientific mentors.
