MAX IV is looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the DanMAX beamline team at the MAX IV Laboratory in Lund, Sweden.

MAX IV is a world-leading synchrotron facility, providing researchers with cutting-edge tools to advance knowledge across materials science, chemistry, and physics. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of battery science research and support state-of-the-art synchrotron instrumentation.

As a postdoctoral researcher at DanMAX, you will split your time equally between supporting the beamline's operational activities and conducting battery-related research using X-ray diffraction and imaging techniques in collaboration with external partners in Sweden and abroad.

Your main work tasks will be

- Beamline Support (50%): Assist with day-to-day operations of the DanMAX beamline, including user support and maintenance of beamline instruments.
- Research (50%): Lead and contribute to battery science projects, with a focus on operando testing utilizing the DanMAX beamline. Collaborate with external partners to drive innovation in battery research, leveraging the capabilities of DanMAX for advanced characterization techniques.


To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

- A PhD in a relevant field (Materials Science, Chemistry, Crystallography, Solid State Physics, or related) or equivalent.
- Documented experience in battery materials, battery chemistry, and/or electrochemical testing of battery cells.
- Documented experience in Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD).
- Experience in the analysis of PXRD data.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken), with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, engaging with a diverse group of scientists and technical staff.

Below are seen as merits

- Experience with synchrotron radiation techniques.
- Proficiency in Python scripting (please provide examples, e.g., GitHub link).
- Experience in building instruments or sample environments.

Additional Information
With a background in batteries and PXRD, you will be expected to develop skills in uCT, to broaden your expertise in advanced characterization techniques. This position will provide valuable experience in both scientific research and technical support at a major research facility.

Eligibility
Appointment to the position of postdoc requires that the applicant has a PhD or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the application deadline. Under special circumstances the PhD can have been completed previous to the aforementioned three years.

Further information
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment. A postdoctoral fellow is employed under a period
of at least two years and at most three years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement "Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor-2022-02-01" ("Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow, 2022-02-01")
