The Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment (www.slu.se/vatten-miljo) works with applied environmental research. Having the national responsibility for environmental monitoring and assessment of lakes and watercourses is a key factor in both the quality and societal impact of our research, which encompasses aquatic ecology and biodiversity, geochemistry and hydrology as well as aquatic ecotoxicology and environmental chemistry. Half of the Department's 120 staff members are researchers and PhD students, while the half provided qualified technical support. The department is part of the Soil-Water-Environment Centre at the SLU campus in Ultuna, Uppsala.
Duties:
The main tasks of the selected candidate are (i) collate, quality-control and analyze high frequency hydrological data (ii) explain the observed patterns and predict how different types of wetlands will function during future climate and management scenarios.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a doctorate in hydrology, environmental analysis or a closely related subject that is considered equivalent by the employer. Documented experience and skills in working with high-temporal resolution hydrological data are required. Expertise and experience in recession curve analysis is a merit, as well as expertise and knowledge in hydrological measurements in the field. You should speak and write fluent English, communicate well, and are easy to collaborate with.
Emphasis is placed on personal characteristics such as interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to work independently.
As postdoctoral appointments are career-developing positions for junior researchers, we are primarily looking for a candidate with a doctoral degree that is three years old at most.
