This position is a great opportunity for a recently graduated PhD, aspiring to engage in state-of-the-art research towards creating the next generation of human-centred automation and truly collaborative robots. You will join a diverse, professional, and friendly team of excellent researchers working in national and international research projects, together with industry.

Information about the division and the department
Chalmers is a leading university in industrial digitalization for sustainable and competitive manufacturing. The Division of Production Systems aims to address the challenges of human-centred digitalization in industry, while working on design, operation, and maintenance of future industrial manufacturing systems.

We are a growing team of 30 cross-disciplinary researchers, teachers, PhD candidates, and support staff. The Division has a good gender balance and high diversity. We have extensive international research collaboration and deploy robot, VR, AR, and other equipment in our excellent Stena Industry Innovation Lab research infrastructure for experiments.

Production Systems is one of six divisions within the Department of Industrial and Materials Science (IMS). The other divisions are: Design & Human Factors; Product Development; Material & Computational Mechanics; Engineering Materials; Materials and Manufacture.

Major responsibilities
As a PostDoc in our team, you will focus on collaborative robotics and human-centred automation within manufacturing operations. Your starting point is state-of-the-art research on human interaction and collaboration with automation, robots, and digital tools. Augmenting and supporting the human is central.

As Postdoc you are expected to continuously expand your field of expertise, in close collaboration with all three research groups within the division. The division's experienced research leaders will train you for a future research leadership position in academia or industry, in Sweden or internationally.



Qualifications

Mandatory:
To qualify for the postdoc position you should hold a recent doctoral degree related to advanced, industrial sustainability development and assessment methods, preferably involving manufacturing industries. Your degree should have been awarded no more than two years prior to the application deadline, in line with current agreements with the Swedish Agency for Government Employers.

You should be able to fluently speak and write English. Swedish proficiency is meritorious but if you do not yet have it you should be willing to learn Swedish, to facilitate teaching and research collaboration. Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

Meritorious:
Training and experience with collaborative robotics, human-centred automation, and digitalisation of manufacturing operations is relevant. Applicants with a background and research experience within industrial, mechanical, electric or similar engineering are prioritized.

Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two or three years.
