Department of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology
Join the Forest Pathology Group at the Department of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), for a 2-year post-doc position in fungal ecology. We are looking for a dedicated researcher to study the distribution, diversity, and dispersal of airborne forest fungi.

About the position
This project offers a unique opportunity to explore fundamental questions in fungal ecology and advance your research career in a leading international department. The project will utilize long-term molecular monitoring and metabarcoding data, comprising air samples of fungal spores collected weekly over more than a decade. The project will contribute to a deeper understanding of fungal distribution, diversity, and dispersal in forest ecosystems. As a post-doc in the project you will develop and execute an analysis plan for this dataset in collaboration with researchers in the group

Your profile
We are seeking a highly motivated researcher with a Ph.D. in fungal ecology, mycology, microbiology, biology, molecular ecology, bioinformatics, or a related field. The candidate is expected to have:

Previous experience with fungal community analyses or fungal ecology.

• Knowledge of multivatiate statistics and modelling
• Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

We consider it meritous if the candidate has skills in scripting programming languages (e.g. python, SQL, bash, R)

In the recruitment process we will place great emphasis on the candidates interest in fungal ecology and personal qualities, collaboration ability, accuracy and independence.

As postdoctoral appointments are career-developing positions for junior researchers, we are primarily looking for candidates with a doctoral degree that was awarded within the past three years.
