Nanoxis Consulting AB (based in Gothenburg, Sweden) has developed a microfluidic flow-cell (LPITM HexaLane, WO2006068619) in which proteoliposomes directly derived from cultured cells are immobilized, thus creating a stationary phase of membrane proteins. This microfluidic platform can be used to label, modify, and digest membrane proteins in a sequential fashion in order to allow for dynamic modification of structure and function (Jansson et al. Microfluidic flow cell for sequential digestion of immobilized proteoliposomes. Anal. Chem. 84(13):5582-5588 (2012)). Recently it was demonstrated that this platform was also able to immobilize and process isolated mitochondria.
The post-doc research position will involve working within a team to process and handle cell samples from various cell cultures. Mitochondrial preparations from cell samples will be adapted and used together with the LPI platform to perform mass spectrometry analysis of mitochondrial proteins in order to decipher the OMM proteome. The post-doc will work closely with the mass spectrometry (MS) and bioinformatics team at Sanofi. The work will be done under collaboration between the proteomic unit at Sanofi in Toulouse and Nanoxis Consulting AB in Gothenburg, Sweden. The successful post-doc candidate should have excellent hands-on expertise in cell biology and protein biochemistry and in particular in organelle and protein separation technologies (PhD degree level documented by peer-refereed publications in the domain). Complementary knowledge in high resolution mass spectrometry and cell culture are beneficial. Curiosity, scientific rigor, teamwork, communication skills and proficiency in English, both written and spoken, are essential.
The position will be BASED in Sanofi research and development, in the cell biology and biochemistry laboratory of the Exploratory Unit at TOULOUSE IN FRANCE.
