Post-doctoral position within the UCMR Linnaeus Program
Umeå Centre for Microbial Research (UCMR; www.ucmr.umu.se) is an interdisciplinary research centre established by a consortium of scientists representing medical & molecular microbiology, molecular & structural biology, chemistry & physics, and is devoted to top quality research and novel applications in the fields of microbial pathogenesis.
Project description
A post-doctoral position is open within the UCMR Linnaeus Program at Umeå University, Sweden. The position involves research to study small molecule protein folding modulators and will be jointly supervised by Matthew Chapman and Fredrik Almqvist. Our labs utilize state-of-the-art synthetic chemistry, molecular biology, microscopy and cell biological techniques to understand how bacteria assemble and utilize extracellular protein fibers called curli and pili.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have a PhD, plus experience with both molecular biology techniques and high throughput small molecule screening. Applicants should have received their PhD in 2007 or later. The position will be guaranteed for one year, with the possibility of a second year depending on the success of the project.
