Post-doctoral position in marine biogeochemistry at the Department of Geological Sciences. Reference number SU 619-2575-11. (Deadline for applications: October 31, 2011.)
Project description
The successful candidate will work on the quantification and model integration of fluxes of inorganic and organic nutrients, oxygen, and dissolved inorganic carbon in the marine benthic boundary layer. The position is part of an effort to improve non-invasive methodologies for the determination of benthic material fluxes (solutes and gases) in the ocean with a focus on the Baltic Sea. The project will involve acquiring and compiling relevant observational data, and developing quantitative parametrizations for benthic flux integration into numerical models.
The position is funded through the Baltic Ecosystem Adaptive Management Project and will be placed at the Department of Geological Sciences at Stockholm University, www.geo.su.se. This work will be conducted in collaboration with the Department of System Ecology and the Baltic Nest Institute.
The applicant should have a PhD in Oceanography or Geological Sciences with emphasis on marine biogeochemistry, hydrology, or similar qualifications, and preferably have sea-going experience and demonstrated technical skills.
Assessment criteria
In the appointment process special weight will be given to scientific proficiency.
