Post-doctoral position
in studies on competition between tree individuals planted in different spacings
SLU develops knowledge about our biological natural resources – everything that lives and grows. At SLU we conduct research, teach and inform about the opportunities, and possible risks incurred, when using our forests, landscapes, soils and animals in different ways.
SLU offers a broad spectrum of educational programmes and single subject courses. About 3 300 undergraduates and 800 postgraduate students are enrolled at SLU. A total of 3 200 people are employed at the University.
Main campuses are located at Alnarp, Skara, Ultuna and Umeå. Research and teaching activities are carried out throughout the country.
www.slu.sewww.et.slu.seThe Department of Energy and Technology educates and develops new knowledge within the fields of technology, bioenergy and biometry aiming at a sustainable use of biological resources. The department has about 40 employees and was formed on January 1st, 2008 by merging the Department of Bioenergy and the Department of Biometry and Engineering.
The Bioenergy research group conducts research, education and information in the field of bioenergy. Our research area covers forest management, production and handling of biofuel, distribution, upgrading, conversion and market issues. We are 5 senior researchers and 3 PhD students.
Job description: The task is to analyze data from field experiments and make models of competition between trees. The work will be carried out both by shorter field studies and a analyze phase.
Eligibility and qualifications: We are looking for a biologist with good experiences in forest science. We are looking for a person with a practical and theoretical background in the field of forestry, or related areas, who is eager to apply this knowledge to new problems in a multi-disciplinary research team.
Applicants should have a PhD degree.
The position is for two years with at least 80% of the time available for research. Job starting date is as soon as possible.
