Novel nutritious, tasty and health-promoting wheat products are required on the market. To develop such products, an increased understanding of molecular, biochemical and phenotypic traits behind these characteristics are needed. The overall objective is to use a combination of a multitude of methods, i.e. metabolomics in terms of chemical analyses of various compounds in wheat and products thereof, genomics to determine the genetic background of the traits, product development, sensory characterisation and consumer perception, to increase the knowledge and understanding and develop suitable products. The post-doc will be involved in all steps of the analyses work and will be responsible for analyses of the large amount of data generated within the project to create knowledge and novel products.
The position is part of a collaborative Formas project, with two departments at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Alnarp, Kristianstad Högskola (HKR) and Warbro kvarn. Thus, the post-doc will work together with researchers and technicians of these research environments and together with a doctoral student from an SLU Grogrund project.
Qualifications:
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who has a PhD in agriculture, biology, biochemistry, plant breeding or other types of education, preferably with a component of chemical analyses and treatment of large data sets in the curricula. Candidates should have a sound understanding of the use of statistics of big data sets related to agriculture, chemistry, food and consumer science. The candidate should be able to work well independently as well as to collaborate in groups and have good overall communication skills, including the ability to communicate and write well in English.
As postdoctoral appointments are career-developing positions for junior researchers, we are primarily looking for candidates with a doctoral degree that is three years old at most.
Place of work:
SLU, Alnarp and HKR, Kristianstad. The employment will be at SLU, Alnarp, but half of the working time (preferably during the later part of the employment) will be in Kristianstad. The project will cover travel cost for the work in Kristianstad.
