hela Sverige For two projects on genomic selection we seek a numerically strong post-doc for simulation studies and field data analysis. The first project aims at combining data collected in voluntary milking systems in dairy cattle with whole-genome sequence data imputed from a low-density SNP chip. The second project is aimed at genomic selection strategies to improve crossbred performance in commercial crossbred pigs. This post will offer the opportunity to work on novel applications within the exciting area of genomic selection, focusing. The post-holder will have the chance to collaborate with leading researchers in animal breeding and to attend international meetings and conferences.

www.slu.se/lediga-tjansterArbetsuppgifter: The post-holder will work with imputation of low-density SNP chip genotypes up to whole-genome sequence, processing of data from voluntary milking systems, and use those for genome-wide prediction. The post-holder will also work with stochastic simulation of pig breeding schemes, evaluating different genotyping scenarios for their consequence on genetic progress.
Kvalifikationer: The position requires a PhD in animal breeding/quantitative genetics and relevant research experience. Candidates are expected to be up-to-date with current developments and techniques in the areas of genomic selection and computer simulations. Strong programming skills and experience with large data analysis will be highly desirable.
Experience of handling whole-genome sequence data would be advantageous. The post-holder will also be expected to have demonstrable skills in project management and the oral and written communication of scientific results.
