The proposed studies will include epidemiologic research of the prevalence, course, and treatment of ADHD and other neurodevelopmental disorders using multiple datasets in the United States (insurance-claims datasets) and in Sweden (nation-wide registers).
Your mission
The focus of the work will be on the treatment of ADHD, particularly pharmacoepidemiological studies of the risks and benefits of psychiatric medications for a wide range of behavioral, neurologic, somatic problems, as well as healthcare utilization and costs associated with them.
The successful candidate is expected to apply advanced epidemiological analytical methods (quantitative genetics and pharmaco-epidemiological approaches) to identify the benefits and risks associated with ADHD treatment interventions across multiple medical and functional outcomes.
The successful candidate is expected to facilitate the collaboration of researchers at Karolinska Institutet, Indiana University, the University of Chicago, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA.
Your profile
- PhD in psychiatric epidemiology. Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
- Advanced data management skills needed for observational studies using register-based data, including data extraction from primary and secondary data sources, data filtering, cleaning, and visualization.
- Expertise in epidemiological study design/analyses, including quantitative genetic and pharmaco-epidemiological approaches.
- Expertise in register-based research using Swedish national registers
- Prior experience from using several of the following statistical software and programming languages: SAS, R, Stata.
- Prior experience with from research on ADHD and other co-occurring neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Prior experience from working in an international and multidisciplinary research context.
- A strong publication record is highly desirable.
