We are looking for a post-doc eager to explore the possibilities in the latest atom probe tomography (APT) technology, and to apply this to atomic-scale materials research. The post-doc will work in a small research group, which has a long-standing tradition in atom probe research and a well-equipped lab for materials characterization.

Information about the project and division
You will join the Division of Microstructure Physics at the Department of Physics. Our research is focused on understanding the links between the process, structure, properties and performance of engineering materials. For this purpose we employ electron microscopy, atom probe tomography and various scattering/diffraction techniques. We have an atom probe instrument of the latest generation, a LEAP 6000 XR, which is equipped with a deep-UV laser. The ideal candidate has experience from APT and is skilled in FIB-based specimen preparation.

Main responsibilities
The post-doc will pursuit their own research in cooperation with the academic staff, as well as researchers from other universities. This includes carrying out experiments and data evaluation, and to report findings at project meetings and in scientific journal articles. The post-doc will be part of a national project called NuMaP (Nuclear Materials Platform), with participants from several Swedish universities. Supervision of PhD-students and Master students, as well as commissionary work can be included.

Qualifications
The post-doc needs to have experience from independent use of APT and specimen preparation using FIB. Experience in electron microscopy, correlative microscopy, steel metallurgy, nuclear research and advanced APT data evaluation is also valuable.

To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must hold a doctoral degree awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline.

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

• The date shown in your doctoral degree certificate is the date we use, as this is the date you have met all requirements for the doctoral degree. Exceptions from the 3-year limit can be made for longer periods resulting from parental leave, sick leave or military service.

Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
