Post doctoral researcher in economics ? with a focus on bioenergy and economic modeling
We are seeking a qualified candidate to our Agricultural and Environmental Economics unit.
The successful applicant will have to work in the areas of energy and agricultural economics with an emphasis on bioenergy (biofuels) and economic modeling. Responsibilities will be to contribute to the development and implementation of models of international markets for biofuels. The successful applicant will further be expected to 1) design and implement major research projects, 2) draft reports and produce publication-quality papers. The person filling this position will be expected to contribute to a highly visible research based program within the subject area. In addition, the applicant will
teach economics courses in Swedish at the introductory and intermediate levels, with teaching duties equivalent to 30% of full time.
Research: The research and teaching at the department cover business administration, agricultural economics and environmental and resource economics. An important part of the
department's activities is applied research, often in co-operation with other departments. The main subjects are 1) economic issues for agriculture, 2) organisation and management of agribusiness, 3) agricultural policy and international trade, 4) environmental and resource economics and 5) development and management of small businesses.
Teaching: Undergraduate courses are given as a part of the programme for MSc in Agriculture. After several introductory courses in economics and business administration, courses are offered leading to specialisation in any of the above-mentioned subject areas. Postgraduate training is also offered. The courses are open to students in other programmes, both within the university as well as from other universities.
Duties: Particular emphasis will be placed on scientific qualifications within the subject area. The successful candidate will have a strong background in using micro-economics,
and international trade as well as having a strong background in quantitative methods. In particular, the applicant should have strong oral and written communication skills. In addition, emphasis will be given to personal suitability. Ability to teach in Swedish is a prerequisite, and teaching experience and skill an advantage.
Qualifications: Applicants should hold a PhD degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate in Economics or Agricultural Economics. To be appointed as a Post doc, the applicant should have been awarded her/his PhD no more than three years ago at the time of application.
Form of employment: This is a one-year position with a possible extension for one
additional year.
