Development of a novel CRISPR based system to identify and manipulate genetic alterations in mammalian cells
Role Description
Targeted genome editing using engineered nucleases like the CRISPR/CAS9 system is rapidly evolving. The power to perform targeted, efficient alterations of genome sequence and gene expression are likely to transform biological research and spur the development of new molecular therapeutics for human disease in the years to come. However, current sequencing-based methods available to detect genomic alterations changes incur both significant cost and time. This is also true for the identification of naturally occurring genotypes within a mixed population of cells originating from in vivo tissues, such as patient biopsies.
In order to circumvent these problems we are currently investigating a novel genetic system to identify mutant disease genotypes, such as point mutations, deletions or chromosome rearrangements using a combined approach of synthetic biology and cellular assays. This method has the potential to open up new ways of working with cellular models, patient material as well as in vivo systems without destroying valuable tissue.
Join a industry-leading group focused on precise genome editing with a large and growing community of post-doctoral scientists
Be part of the development and implementation of a novel scientific field into biopharmaceutical research to the benefit of patients
As a Postdoctoral Scientist in Targeted genotype identification it is essential that you have:
A PhD in Cellular Biology, Biochemistry or Molecular Biology
Expertise in molecular biology and genetics, and the ability to produce high quality assays
A proven record of work, published in reputable scientific journals
Strong bioinformatics skills in gene annotation and genome analysis
Experience in mammalian cell culture, FACS and cell based assays
