Characterisation of a bariatric surgery factor in insulin sensitive and insulin resistant subjects to determine the properties that establish it as an insulin resistance factor.
We're currently looking for talented scientists to join our innovative academic-style postdoc programme which spans a wide range of disciplines and aligns with one of our therapeutic areas. From our centre in Mölndal , Sweden, you'll be in a global pharmaceutical environment, working alongside our scientists who are contributing to drug discovery and development and be part of a much larger active global post doc community. You will be encouraged to pursue your own independent research in cutting edge laboratories, present at external meetings, and publish in leading journals. You will also be offered a comprehensive training programme.

Diabetes is affecting a growing population throughout the world. AstraZeneca a leader in the delivery of treatments for diabetes, we place significant emphasis on research and development into new mechanisms. Currently, the only curative treatment is bariatric surgery. We?ve identified a circulating factor implied in reversal of insulin resistance. Throughout the programme, you?ll isolate the factor from patient materials, to establish what features of the protein are responsible for its regulation of insulin sensitivity. As a Postdoctoral Scientist - Bariatric Surgey Insulin Resistance Factor, it's essential that you have:
A Ph.D. in a relevant biomedical science
A track-record of protein purification and characterisation
An innovative, meticulous and results-oriented attitude to experimentation
