Stratification of RA patients responses to glucocorticoids

Investigating the regulation and function of MDR1 (multidrug resistance 1) gene and its role in stratifying Rheumatoid arthritis patients? responses to glucocortoids

Role Description
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) affects 0.5-1% of the population in industrialized countries. Today there is no possibility to predict which patients will benefit most from conventional glucocorticoid (GC) doses, nor why response to GCs decline over time in RA. In this programme you will in a unique multidisciplinary setting investigate samples from newly diagnosed RA patients before and during treatment of GCs to identify novel biomarkers to allow patient stratification. Co-supervised by international leading academic experts in the pathogenesis of RA, creating networks with both Glasgow University and Sahlgrenska University hospital.

As a Postdoctoral Scientist in Stratification of RA patients? responses to glucocorticoids it?s essential that you have:
A PhD in immunology or a related subject
Significant experience in molecular biology
An extensive understanding of advanced flow cytometry
A proven record overseeing functional cellular assays in vitro
The following skills and qualifications are desirable:
A history of publication in reputable scientific journals
Hands-on experience in collecting, bio banking, and analysing materials from early clinical studies
A solid understanding of next generation sequencing, and the confidence to creatively analyse and interpret results
The ability to independently design and execute incisive experiments
Excellent communication and influencing skills
