LTH forms the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University, with approximately 9 000 students. The research carried out at LTH is of a high international standard and we are continuously developing our teaching methods and adapting our courses to current needs.
The Department of Physics is with a staff of about 350 scientists and educators one of the largest departments within Lund University. There are seven research divisions and a number of research centra within the department. The research activities at the department cover a broad spectrum of modern physics.

Background
The division of Combustion Physics runs a comprehensive operation, with a focus on the development and application of laser spectroscopic technologies for gas phase phenomena.
The division has many contacts within the Faculty of Engineering, other universities and local industry, as well as strong international ties. The division was set up in 2001 within the modern facilities in the Enoch Thulin laboratory at the Department of Physics, and currently employs approx. 45 people.
Plasma is often called the fourth state of matter and similar to combustion laser diagnostics is an ideal tool to investigate these phenomena that involve high temperatures and aggressive chemistry. Further, plasma, and in particular non-thermal plasma, has proven to be a versatile tool to apply in chemical-gas processing, turface treatment and recently in plasma-assisted combustion. There are, however, still rather limited knowledge about non-thermal plasma especially at atmospheric pressure and pressures above that. In order to broaden and strengthen our activities in plasma research, we are now announcing a post doc. position within the area of development of experimental setups for nonthermal plasma and plasma assisted combustion research utilizing laser/optical diagnostics.
Subject area
Physics (with focus on laser diagnostics, plasma and plasma-assisted combustion).
Specific subject description
The position will be directed towards development of experimental methods for investigations of plasma-assisted combustion and non-thermal plasma phenomena mainly employing laser/optical diagnostics.
Job specification
The research activities will be aim at achieving better understanding of phenomena related to plasma and plasma-assited combustion. A main emphasis with the work is to design noval experimental methods for investigating the physics and chemistry of plasma and plasma-asisted combustion using the optical diagnostic tools.
Eligibility requirements
Qualified for the position as postdoctoral fellow is a person who holds a doctorate or a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a doctorate and who has completed the degree within the three years prior to the last date for applications, unless there are valid reasons.
Special requirements for this position:
• a PhD in a relevant area
• a proven record in the area of laser-based combustion/plasma diagnostics
• a proven record in the laboratory experience with high voltage and combustion.
• fluency in English, written as well as spoken
Assessment criteria
For appointments to postdoctoral fellow, good ability to develop and carry out research forms the assessment criteria.
Desirable qualifications:
• experience from laser/optical diagnostics
• experience from plasma and combustion diagnostics
• experience from collaboration with other disciplines
• willingness to and experience from teamwork
Consideration will also be given to how the applicant through his/her personality, experience and competence is assessed to complement and strengthen the ongoing research at the Department of Combustion Physics.
Application instructions
The application shall include a letter of application, curriculum vitae and Copies of certificates and copies of any other document that you wish to include in your application.
Lunds universitet välkomnar sökande med olika bakgrund och erfarenheter. Vi ser jämställdhet och mångfald som en styrka och tillgång.
