The Bioorganic & Biophysical Chemistry Laboratory (BBCL, lnu.se/bbcl) is based within the Department of Chemistry & Biomedical Sciences at Linnaeus University. The group is an integral part of the Linnaeus University Centre for Biomaterial Chemistry and is engaged in a series of international and national level collaborations including two current EU-funded consortia and projects with support of the Swedish Research Council and various industrial partners. We seek a postdoctoral research fellow to join us in this diverse and internationally recognized environment.

Description of position:
The successful candidate shall help drive our involvement in the development of novel functional materials through establishing novel strategies for C-H activation, in particular using rhodium-centered approaches. The position requires active participation in relevant group, department and network related activities. Up to 20 % of the work may involve teaching or tutoring at undergraduate or graduate levels.

Qualification requirements:
You hold a PhD, or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD, and have completed your degree no more than three years before the application deadline.
Applicants must not have previously been employed as a postdoctoral fellow for more than a year in the same or related subject area at Linnaeus University.

Additional Requirements

• A track record of success within the field of synthetic organic chemistry, in particular directed towards the development of rhodium-based catalysis for C-H activation, and of characterization of synthetic products.

• Well documented fluency in written and spoken scientific English is necessary.

Assessment criteria:
Priority will be given to candidates with the following qualifications: 

1.   Documented track-record of research in the field of synthetic organic chemistry

2. Documented experience in the development of C-H activation reactions and rhodium-based catalysis of C-C bond forming reaction.

In the overall assessment, particular importance is placed on the candidate's potential for a successful career in academia.

Placement until further notice: Kalmar
Extent and period: 100%, for a period of up to 24 months, though for twelve months in the first instance, with extension subject to mutual agreement.
