Post doctoral and PhD student positions in grid computing and virtualization technology
Umeå university is seeking outstanding candidates for 1 reseracher position, 1-2 post doc positions, and 1-2 PhD student positions at the Department of Computing Science. The grid computing research at the department is currently focusing on the design and analysis of methods, algorithms and software for service-oriented grid and cloud computing infrastructures. Current research topics include resource brokering, accounting, grid-wide fairshare scheduling, multi-level job management systems, workflow management, portals, and the integrated use of virtualization techniques in grids. Topics like grid architecture design, service-oriented architectures, and standardization awareness are central to all these projects. See

Part of the research is performed within the EU FP7 funded project RESERVOIR (Resources and Services Virtualization without Barriers). Software is contributed to NorduGrid/ARC and the Globus Toolkit, the latter as a member of the Globus Academic Affiliate Program. The group is also an associated member of the CoreGRID Network of Excellence and member of the NESSI workgroup on service-oriented infrastructure.
