Title: Understanding the contribution of alveolar macrophage M1 & M2 phenotypes to COPD pathology & compound-mediated lung pathologies.
Description of Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for a cellular & molecular biologist to join the Respiratory & Inflammation (R&I) Innovative Medicines (iMED) based in Mölndal. There you will embark on a research project to identify specific markers of alveolar macrophage of the pro-inflammatory M1 and tissue-remodelling M2 phenotypes using disease-relevant in vitro-differentiated human lung tissue-derived alveolar macrophages. This aim of this novel work is to address the phenotype and functional properties of alveolar macrophages associated with COPD and compound-mediated lung pathologies. The outcome of this study could contribute to the development of future therapies for COPD and help identify predictive biomarkers of lung injury.
Your activities will be focussed on delivering new markers for alveolar macrophage M1 & M2 phenotypes and applying these markers in the context of COPD or compound-mediated lung toxicity. Your scientific research will also give you the opportunity to work with (and influence) fellow scientists across many other disciplines. You will be expected to deliver the results of your novel research in-house via global working groups and externally via meetings and through publications.
