Plan International Sweden is now looking for a Policy and Thematic Officer to support our policy and thematic work.

The Officer will be based in Plan International Sweden's Policy and Thematic Unit, which is part of the Department for Programme and Influencing. The Policy and Thematic Unit is responsible for leading the policy and thematic development for Plan International Sweden in accordance with Plan International's Global Strategy and for providing thematic guidance and quality assurance of our international programmes. The Unit has expertise in the areas of children's rights, child protection, sexual and reproductive health and rights, civil society strengthening, gender equality and inclusion, conflict sensitivity, and environment, climate change and resilience.

In the role of Policy and Thematic Officer you will have the following key responsibilities, to:

- Contribute to the work of the Unit by working closely with the Head of Unit and the Thematic Advisors and providing both strategic and administrative support.
- Contribute to the preparation of project applications and reporting to donors as needed.
- Support bidding processes with consultants or suppliers, as needed.
- Independently plan and implement tasks within the Unit's areas of responsibilities.
- Support in particular the work on children's and youth's participation.
- Contribute to strengthening the communication, knowledge management and resource mobilisation systems in the Unit and in relation to Plan International's country offices and partner organisations.
- Contribute to the dissemination of tools and methods developed by the Unit to the wider organisation, country offices and for the benefit of children and young people, in particular via a website platform.
- Contribute to and initiate, conduct and compile surveys and studies in the unit's thematic areas.

We are looking for a candidate with:

- An academic degree in political science, law, human rights, social science, international relations or equivalent.
- A few years of experience working in the development and/or humanitarian sector, from rights-based perspective or within the Unit's priority areas.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, positive and professional attitude, ability to facilitate and work well in a culturally diverse team setting and with multiple partners.
- Strengths in coordination with others, flexibility, and creativity.
- Excellent written and oral English skills.
- Excellent computer skills in programmes/applications such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams as well as Teamwork and WordPress.
- The ability and interest to support knowledge management and results documentation.

Merits:

- Experience of working with policy development and advocacy in national and international contexts.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, knowledge management and proposal writing.
- International working experience from development and/or humanitarian contexts.
- Additional language skills in Swedish, French, Spanish or Arabic considered a major benefit.

About the position

This is a temporary position for 12 months on a full-time basis which corresponds to 37.5h/week. The position is based in Stockholm. A valid work permit for Sweden is a requirement before you apply for the position.
