You will be responsible for planning and managing the delivery of each new version of the Skype SDK used as part of the upcoming Platform strategy. Your main focus will be to ensure that each of the individual projects required for the version releases are resourced and scheduled, while managing both business and technical dependencies. Additionally, as the team workload requires, you will be called upon to function as a Project Manager for individual projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Contribute to the creation of the product's strategic roadmap
• Manage the progress and delivery of the program of work which contributes to each public software release, working closely with Business, Product, Engineering and QA teams
• Manage changes to scope and delivery dates that affect the program delivery schedule and communicate recommendations to stakeholders
• Manage exceptions and escalations from project teams
• Mitigate program level risks/resolve issues with Product Managers and other stakeholders as appropriate
• Communicate progress, issues, risks, changes, plans, etc. to all stakeholders, including PR, Marketing and Partner Support team
• Liaise with Engineering and QA Managers to make or propose operational decisions and drive projects to conclusion
Pre-requisite Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Strong project and program management skills and experience
• Experience of working in a software development environment
• Knowledge of software development lifecycles
• Methodical approach to delivery, with attention to detail and ability to keep track of multiple projects, risks and issues
• Fluent in English
• Self-motivated and goal-oriented
• Ability to work effectively with, and balance the needs of, both business and engineering team members
Desirable functional / technical skills
• Microsoft Project
• Program management qualification desirable
• Project management qualification desirable, e.g. PRINCE2
