Job description
We are seeking an intelligent and knowledgeable horticulturist with academic background and a hardworking and collaborative personality to work at our research and development facilities and Cityfarm in Stockholm and drive our growing testbed and enhance farming operations.
Our testbed is a 100% controlled facility where we develop our precision farming practices, progress our plant growth recipes and generate intelligence to be fed to our Artificial Intelligence center. You will conduct tests on a vast plant community in the testbed and scrutiny variables and constants in each circle of growth for creation of plant intelligence and contribute to our research activities. You will also be a key person for monitoring crop growth, to plan, calculate and coordinate precise growth processes for deliveries of all existing and new products grown in our systems to our customers.
You will be our lead for all growing processes, the testbed activities and plant science relevant matters. This position will involve both farm operations and monitoring and collection of environmental and production data as well. Having experience with information collection, we expect you to be part of our data development process, as well as developing our horticultural practices on the ground.
This position entails not only all aspects of indoor farming including planting, harvesting and maintenance but also goes beyond to developing new products, optimization of growing systems and farm management procedures.

Your profile and experiences
Preferably a PhD (MSc. is minimum requirement) in relevant fields of Agri- and horticultural Sciences is demanded.
Besides that, we also see that you have:
• Interest and competency in vertical growing systems
• Passion for growing leafy greens and sustainable food-production
• Experience of growing crops under artificial lighting conditions
• Understanding of plant essential nutrients and condition optimization
• Understanding of pH, EC and other chemical properties of hydroponic growing
• Pre- and post-harvest handling and management of horticultural crops
• General understanding of computer software programs
• Data collection methodologies and experiment design skills
• Strong conclusive, interpersonal and communicational skills
• Professional English skills (Swedish or other relevant languages are a plus)
• Knowledge of more advanced data processing applications or image processing basics is an extra merit.
