Bownty is looking for a PHP-MySQL and Java specialist with the skills, drive and
mindset to be part of our development team. Entering a fast paced and growing
startup is both incredibly rewarding and busy at the same time, so you'll need the
guts to challenge existing ideas and swiftly implement new features. It is vital that you feel right at home in an informal but driven atmosphere.
Bownty is building a worldwide platform where daily deals meet savvy consumers.
Bownty is a Hotels.com/Momondo for deals - giving consumers an easy overview
of all the best deals in their city. You'll be part of an industry that is red-hot and
climbing to new heights every day.
The right profile should be able to handle the pressure of being responsible ensuring
integration with partner sites, affiliate networks and product development
of a new release. In close cooperation with our CTO you'll be implementing
features and ensuring perfect performance of the new platform.
We expect you to be a good fit in a young organization, know your way around
internet trends, understand our business model and arrive with your development
toolbox ready to be deployed.
A week at the office could include the following tasks:
• Developing new features and tweaking existing
• Maintaining crawlers and ensuring content on the platform
• Bringing new ideas on how to provide a better user experience
• Playing foosball and watching a few TED videos
You should:
• Have experience building an online service to consumers
• Be ambitious and driven - and feel at home in a young organization
• Be fluent in English in speaking, reading and writing
• Handle JSP, Tomcat and web services
• Be able to write RegExp to extract data
• Know your way in OOP PHP, especially handling lots of data
• Be familiar with SQL Injection, XSS and session hijacking
• Be experienced in MySQL. You know about stored procedures, indexes and how
bad SQL affects performance
• Have experience using SVN and know how to internationalize your applications
• Know about software architectures like PCMEF+ and MVC, and patterns like
Facade and Builder
• Know what cloud computing is all about and how to build a distributed system
running on multiple servers
