The position lies at the interface of organic synthesis, transition metal catalysis and green chemistry. You will learn to design, prepare and analyze organic molecules using modern synthetic techniques and analytical methods such as 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), X-ray crystallography and mass spectrometry. The project also involves enzymatic transformations, as well as physical and theoretical studies to provide a deeper understanding of molecular interactions and reaction mechanisms.
Information about the division and the department
The Kann group specializes on method development in organic chemistry, as well as the synthesis of functional organic molecules and molecular sensors. In addition to organic synthesis, we employ tools such as transition metal catalysis and enzymatic transformations, and strive to integrate the principles of green chemistry in our research.
We are part of the Division of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The department is committed to teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, as well as postgraduate levels. Academic freedom, interdisciplinary research, entrepreneurship and making societal impact are key factors in the department's work. We strive to offer an environment where you can combine world-leading research and teaching with a good work-life balance.
